Located immediately North of the High Street, on the site of the old Bus Station, the Public Building is surrounded by a new Town Square.
Externally the building closely follows the original architect's design, with minor modifications. The main black rectangular box is randomly perforated by 'Jelly Bean' windows lined with pink reveals. Stainless steel clad volumes break through this simple box - the triangulated 'Rockface', the smooth 'Pebble', and the roof top plant rooms, which are visible above the main building parapet.
